The Deep Foundations Institute’s (DFI) Women in Deep Foundations Committee selected Joanna Mason of Schnabel Geostructural Design & Construction as one of the recipients of the 2022 DFI Educational Trust Women in Deep Foundations Professional Development Grants.
Joanna, who earned her BS and MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), has been with Schnabel as a Project Manager in their D.C. office since 2006. During her time with the company, she has become an integral part of their Group North, which designs and manages a variety of earth retention projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Joanna’s peers will tell you that she is a strong advocate for women in construction and always looking for opportunities to recruit and network with women who are interested in being a part of the construction industry. Furthermore, she is very active in many industry events, participates in union negotiations/trade organizations, and networks with other contractors and engineers, with full support from Schnabel.
“Joanna’s hard work ethic, ability to effectively communicate, and technical knowledge are also a great asset to Schnabel. She uses those traits and skills to further an understanding of the deep foundation industry and its acceptance into mainstream construction both in the general contracting and engineering community” said Schnabel Operations Manager, Stan Worst, PE.
