OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
Don’t hurt yourself, don’t hurt anyone else, and don’t let anyone hurt you; a simple philosophy that has been adopted at Schnabel. We live by this belief to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all our employees and subcontractors. Safety is an integral part of our work, as stated in our Mission Values Policy:
To safely build reliable work. To enable each other to be our best. To continuously seek better methods and growth. To be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us. To reward everyone who contributes to this adventure.
Our management and leadership team has a passion and commitment to safety that permeates throughout the entire organization. All of our employees are empowered with the authority to stop and address unsafe conditions or behaviors in the workplace.
At Schnabel, working safely is not just a GOAL, it’s a condition of employment.
SCHNABEL IS IN THE SAFETY BUSINESS
We support structures and the ground so that it is safe to build the project. The people living, working, and traveling around our work depend on it being done safely. This dedication to safety also applies to the people on the job sites.
At Schnabel, safety is not a “safety department” responsibility, it’s everyone’s responsibility. Our safety culture is built from respect and positive feedback at all levels of the organization.
Working in a safe environment is non-negotiable and will be afforded to all employees at every office, shop, and job site where we work.
Our Safety Initiatives
1. Safety Training: in-house training videos along with online video quizzes are created regularly to educate our employees on the latest safety topics. Furthermore, our safety department facilitates safety classes on all types of safety topics. As a result of Schnabel ’s emphasis on safety training, more than 150 field leaders have received their OSHA 30 certification.
2. New Technologies: our safety department looks to implement the latest technologies in our safety program. Examples of some technologies that are currently used include HCSS software to track leading indicators, software to monitor safety inspections in real-time, toolbox talks, reporting software that tracks near misses/safety observation, and much more.
3. Recognition: maintaining a culture of recognition and appreciation is something that our safety department prioritizes. To achieve this goal, employees and regional projects that demonstrate high levels of commitment to safety are highlighted companywide.
Providing a safe and healthful workplace for all our employees and partners is a priority at Schnabel.
