City: Pasadena
State: California
Owner: Blue Rail Light Rail Authority
General Contractor: Kiewit/Washington
Project Description:
When the Blue Line was extended through historic Old Town Pasadena, California, Schnabel was selected to design and build an underpinning support system for ten of the town’s buildings. One building was a four-story parking garage constructed in the 1980’s, one was a six-story building constructed in the 1940’s and the remaining eight buildings were one- and two-story brick masonry structures constructed in the early 1900’s. Schnabel’s underpinning support system resulted in building settlements that were all less than the required 1/2 inch and the project was completed with no property claims.
